Heal your head and your heart

There are distinct phases of emotions after a cancer diagnosis. We wrote the book on how to get through to the other side! Join our small group discussions during which we help you process those emotions. Take the journey with others who understand!

  • Find support from your BRA mates.
  • Safe, understanding groups.
  • Write a survivorship action plan!

Learn healthy habits

With all the conflicting information out there, how do you know what’s hype and what’s truth? BRA's research-based nutrition classes focus specifically on what is relevant to breast cancer survivors. Each class is taught by a registered dietitian/nutritionist.

  • Attend from anywhere - classes are held virtually.
  • Join the full BRA program to learn from our 6-week, breast-cancer specific classes.
  • Option to enjoy our healthy habits program on your own time.
  • Receive simple and actionable lifestyle tips!

Gain strength and confidence

The research is conclusive - a program of regular exercise reduces rates of recurrence by 24% and death from all causes by more than 30%. We’ll show you how and help you stay motivated no matter what level you start from!

  • Lots of locations to choose from.
  • Every class taught by a certified personal trainer.
  • Get stronger and learn to enjoy exercise.
  • No pressure or competition - all levels welcome!

Hear from the experts

Knowledge is power, so there’s an educational component to everything we do. Hear from experts at informal BRA Banter meetings, learn about specific topics at special events, and gain new information in all program activities.

  • Many events led by former or current participants.
  • No requirements to join!
  • Learn where to turn when you have questions!
  • Strong community for all.

Join and STAY!

Most survivorship programs are just that – 12 weeks, 16 weeks, six months – and then it ends. It’s like when you finish treatment and your family and friends think you’re done, but you realize it’s far from over. With BRA, you can continue on your wellness path as long as you'd like, with all the friends you've made along the way.

We’re all individuals with unique needs and at different stages of the breast cancer/life experience. The foundation starts with a group for weekly exercise, nutrition classes and emotional wellness. When you're ready, you can bump up your activity level, take a deeper dive into healthy habits, and continue exploring emotional well-being.

With BRA you can join at any time, stay as long as you’d like,

and even become a mentor to others who follow.

So thankful for this organization. Where else can you find exercise, nutritional advice, and mindful counseling all with the same group of people? The time I’ve invested in this group has far outreached my expectations and has introduced me to friendships that will last a lifetime. Thank you BRA!”  - Linda

FAQ's

  • Who can join a BRA group?

Anyone who has ever had a diagnosis of breast cancer or had prophylactic surgery because of a gene mutation. You can be newly diagnosed, recently finished treatment or years out, or living with metastatic disease.

  • What should I expect?

You can expect to find your village; lifetime friends forged through shared experiences and honest vulnerability. These experiences include:

    • Increasing strength and energy through weekly group workouts with a certified personal trainer
    • Learning to make better nutrition choices and creating healthy habits through a series of classes
  • How much does it cost?

BRA is funded 100% by donations. We encourage those who are able to contribute in any amount, at any time, but it is not required. Some members donate a little as they go along; others wait to make a gift when they are able to pay it forward. For those struggling financially, we welcome your smiling face and encouragement as your contribution.

  • What is the benefit of joining a BRA group?

Diagnosis is shocking. Treatment is hard. Life after cancer is different. In a BRA group, you’ll be with others who “get it.”

Research shows that regular exercise, good nutrition, and strong social connections can significantly reduce the risk of recurrence and the risk of death from all causes.
